Eurogamer Expo 2012 was amazing. It was just as amazing as GAMEfest and the previous two Eurogamer expos I attended. Did anyone really think any different? Don’t be silly. I travelled to London the day before to attend the Women in Games Conference with a friend from work and stayed an extra day for the expo. It’s the first time I was let loose by myself to wander around (I admit it, I got so distracted by all the shiny games I forgot to meet up with my friend), which was an interesting experience. I’m normally a pretty shy person, so I would normally let other people do the talking or just sit and wait my turn. But I actually found being a lone girl wandering around that the people running the booths would come over and talk to me more whilst I waited and occasionally snuck me into queues (ZombiU WOO!!). I didn’t play everything because some of the queues were INSANE. I don’t even want to know how long the queue was for Black Ops 2, but let’s face it.. there was no point queuing for that when we all know it’s going to be pretty similar to the CoD before that.. and the CoD before that.. oh, and the CoD before that. But I played everything I wanted to. Here’s a run down of my top five games I played..
Chantelle’s jumping on the bandwagon. And loving it. Everywhere I’ve looked all I’ve seen is The Beatles: Rock Band. And who can blame us.. it’s an awesome game!! I’m not completely familiar with the Beatles unfortunately. I have a few of their albums and have mostly heard them blaring out of my brother’s room or in friends’ cars. But I do enjoy them! So much in fact that I got really excited over the release of The Beatles: Rock Band.
Come release day my brother was probably GAME’s only customer before 10 am. He played the game as soon as he got home, and completed the story mode not long after. I had to wait a little while however after embarking on a very long adventure on a quest for microphone stands! Eventually we purchased some awesome stands (complete with genius xbox controller clip) and began! Of course the wait was worth it. Not only was I able to play guitar whilst singing through my newly standing microphone, it’s an awesome game. Both due to the Beatles talent and good songs, and the new improvements to the actual game.
Rock Band + Band in a Box = £80. Thank you GAME!
My brother and I are starting up a Tour under the clever name of “The B Sides”, starring myself as lead singer and him as top-notch drummer! Global domination is coming slowly but surely with the purchase of our Tour Bus and growing fan population! Rock Band has partially solved our many long and empty days.
Playing in a band is good fun.. but it’s only half the game. I started two solo careers; Guitar and Drums both on Hard thinking everyone knows the huge difference in difficulty between Rock Band and Guitar Hero (of which I can manage a Medium career), but playing through on Medium career on Rock Band is so painfully slow and dull. Unfortunately, Hard is still a huge step up on Rock Band and the orange button still continues to elude me. My hand just isn’t quick enough and gets all confused! I completed the first five songs or so.. and then decided it was time to revert back to Medium. The same happened with my Drum career. Ultimate fail. So I’m playing through on Medium. Which won’t get me those hardcore cool points but I’m having more fun with it. Sure, it’s really not that difficult but I have a clever plan.. complete career on Medium and then when I am super awesome at playing Guitar/Drums.. level up and play Hard!! Fool proof.
